hat piece

Post by victoria »

Im been trying to maake bottent similar to this:

My own skills are non-existent on hat-making, but adequate on DYIng in general. Biggest hurdle is measurements.
Bonnet makes, interesting, 3D problem solving. Trashed lots of patterns before managed to make ones that would do.
Even then My measurements are approximations at best, so I'll have to improvise on the way.
Here is im on now. I have sewn up what shows outside, and made inner piece that will give hat its shape.

Sorry not much more to show for photos, but Im not used to photoing my works
Hopely you can soon see finished product

As I feared even base and actual cloth should be with same sizes, i have to cut and shape both little from some places. This way it looks better, and slight asymmetry wont show on big picture

That way it would certainly been easier. Instead I did sort-of reverse-engineering to bonnet, to get patterns. One more thing is my lack of seving machine. I do it all by hands, so no big projects
