My parents are actually helping me save up for my Kig but it was hard to come and tell them about this finally. It's a good thing that my Parents like Anime and Video Games too. You gotta be confident in yourself I believe is key.

I'm glad you have that moral support; I'm the odd one out in my family and I just keep things to myself because they are pretty easy to read about how they'll respond.

It's one of those questions where there is no reliable answer, and fueled even further due to the fear of the response one might get.

If it helps in any way, I unveiled Kig Irina to my family just before my final convention of 2018: I only got a 1/3 positive response, only my father approved.

My heart felt like it was a bout to sink into the floor on the grounds that the two that didn't approve, my mother and my brother (quoting Irina as scary to look at, deja vu), wouldn't keep a lid on their mouths. So far...it seems they did in the end do the respectful thing and not blabber it about.

It just annoys me so much how, over so many decade and centuries, we as a species have become so intolerant.

As long as you think of kigurumi as a type of awesome cosplay and it's not a fetish or something then there's really nothing to worry about. If you feel emasculated by wearing a female character's clothing, just remember that real men do what they want and confidence is everything. I saw a story some few years ago around Halloween where a dad dressed up as Anna from Frozen so his daughter could be Elsa. They went trick or treating and the daughter apparently had a blast. I would think, if anything, you would just be thought of as an awesome, open-minded parent. Kids seem to be much less judgmental about these things than we perceive ourselves or our peers to be, in many cases.
