For me it is due to multiple reasons.
Escapism was the hing I thought originally was my goal. But it dawned upon me that it is actually but a secondary feature which Kig has to offer. Even when I was but a whee lad I always looked at masquarades in awe: I loved to see so many people dressing up and being someone different, basically anybody they wanted to, it offered them a shelter from prejudice and judging eyes.
I had nobody to share this passion with really, I think I have only talked to a single person who was into kig in my country. That being said I always looked at it in fascination: it can make not only your but other's dream come true as well. Cosplaying is one thing but meeting the character you so love in person - that is a whole new level of happiness. And seeing the joy in the eyes of others is something that warms my heart.
Also to meet other people. I am really shy and would normally have an incredibly difficult time to meet up with others... perhaps this will help me battle such fears

Who am I? The better question is: who do you want me to be?
I love to dress up! It really maks me feel great. Like I don't need to be shy anymore, and I can take on a whole new persona. There's something about cosplaying/costuming/kigging that makes me feel positive about life and about myself. If I coulld kig as a job, I wouldn't hesitate to say yes!
Sometimes we've just got to enjoy the small things in life.
